They've sung and danced their hearts out in the middle of your living room.
They made it impossible for you to get their images out of your head.
You finally gave in and spent money on them. After all, that's what they wanted.
I'm talking about the characters created for the
sole purpose of selling you the products they represented.
They came out of the TV screen and into your cupboards.
The innocent looking whimsical characters became
so memorable that they actually survived the passage of time.
"Soup is good food." "Sorry Charlie." "How about another Hawaiian Punch?"
You remember the "catch phrases" and jingles as if it were yesterday.
It's amazing to me how powerful advertising is and the way people respond to it.
These characters that are associated with products and services
we use everyday have become part of our families.
Their images conjure up feelings of security and nostalgia.
It's good to know that some things don't disappear
and will never be forgotten.
Each of these images that I used in this piece
truly represents the heart of American advertising.
